Spikes return home after ten days for Wednesday, Thursday games
August 13, 2013

The State College Spikes return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for the first time in ten days with games on Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15. Highlights of the two-game homestand include the second Bark in the Park Night of the season on Thursday, Ladies Night on Wednesday and a salute to the social media phenomenon of "Dufnering."

Wednesday night, the Spikes face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) at 7:05 p.m. as Confer's Jewelers, The Women's Journal and MAJIC 99 present the Ladies Night festivities. After the game, 100 contestants will head onto the field, but only one lucky lady will find a $1,000 diamond from Confer's Jewelers in the $1,000 Diamond Dash.

Thursday, fans are invited to bring their dogs to the Spikes' 7:05 p.m. game against the Scrappers for Bark in the Park Night II, presented by Metzger Animal Hospital, NEWSRADIO 103 and the Centre Daily Times. The night will include several dog-related promotions and activities throughout the evening, including dog-themed in-game entertainment and music before and during the game.

Dog owners are reminded of the following Bark in the Park Night policies:

  • Dogs are not required to have their own ticket
  • Only one dog allowed per person - please recruit a friend to bring multiple dogs
  • Dogs must be on a leash and must be under the control of their owners at all times
  • Any fan bringing a dog to the game should first visit the dog check-in table outside "Gate G" on the Main Ticket Plaza
  • At the dog check-in table, owners will be asked to provide their dog's vaccination records and sign a liability waiver
  • Dogs are not permitted in the general seating bowl (Diamond Club, Field Box or Bullpen Box sections) or the Left-Field Picnic Pavilion, but are allowed to walk with their owners on the main concourse or accompany their owners sitting at one of the many picnic tables on the main concourse. Dogs are also permitted to sit with their owners in the Outfield Bleacher seating section.

Plus, the Spikes will pay special tribute to the newest social media sensation, "Dufnering," on Wednesday night. Fans can mention "Dufnering" at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Box Office to purchase the $1 tickets.

Fans will also enjoy a seated putting challenge, a free round of golf giveaway and a "dufner-off" during the course of the night.
