Bethancourt continues power surge

Braves prospect homers again, extends hitting streak to 15

Christian Bethancourt ripped his third homer in two days and finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored to extend his hitting streak to 15 games as Mississippi beat Pensacola, 5-3, on Tuesday night.

The Braves' third-ranked prospect is wrapping up his best offensive season as a pro, batting .291/.318/.462 with 11 homers, 18 doubles and 41 RBIs in 76 games.

No. 10 prospect Aaron Northcraft picked up the win, limiting the Blue Wahoos to three runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over six innings.

Jackson and Montgomery battled for 14 innings before John Hicks scored on an error by third baseman Robby Price to give the Generals a 2-1 victory.

Jabari Blash homered in the victory, while Biscuits starter Victor Mateo allowed a run on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings.

Travis Shaw went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored, helping Portland top Altoona, 5-2.

Making his maiden Double-A debut, Red Sox No. 12 prospect Deven Marrero went 2-for-4 and walked for the Sea Dogs.

Second-ranked Pirates prospect Gregory Polanco was 3-for-4 with a triple to raise his average to .275 for the Curve.

Gabe Jacobo homered twice and drove in five runs, but New Hampshire fell to New Britain, 6-5, and settled for a split of its doubleheader.

The Fisher Cats won the opener, 5-4, behind longballs from Andy Burns, Adam Loewen and Ryan Schimpf. Top Twins prospect Miguel Sano hit his 14th homer of the season and third in as many games for New Britain.

Kyle Parker went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs in Tulsa's 8-6 loss to Midland. The Rockies' No. 10 prospect brought his season slash line to .286/.338/.507 in 105 games for the Drillers.

Josh Whitaker homered and drove in two runs on a 2-for-4 night for the RockHounds. He's hitting .280/.362/.580 in 14 games since a promotion from Class A Advanced Stockton.
