ROUND ROCK, Texas - Last week Andrew Romine of the Salt Lake Bees and Mike Kickham of the Fresno Grizzlies were the top performers in the Pacific Coast League, and today the league office recognized their efforts by announcing them the winners of the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively.

Romine hit .423 at the plate, paced the league with 11 hits, and was second with 20 total bases. He was tied for the league lead with six extra-base hits which included four doubles, a triple, and a home run. The shortstop also scored five runs, knotted five RBI, and recorded a stolen base. His week was highlighted by five straight multi-hit games including a 2-for-5 night with a home run at Round Rock on Thursday. Romine's hot bat helped the Bees extend their lead to six games over Tacoma in the Pacific Northern Division after a 5-1 record during the week.

Born in Winter Haven, Florida, Romine was a 5th round pick by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2007 draft out of Arizona State University. In 2010, he was named a Texas League All-Star and an AFL Rising Star. Romine made his Major League debut on September 24th, 2010 against the Chicago White Sox. He is batting .289 with four home runs and 39 RBI in 87 games this season for Salt Lake.

Kickham made two dominant starts last week, earning wins at home versus Albuquerque and on the road at Iowa. On Monday against the Isotopes, the left-hander threw six shutout innings as he struck out four and allowed four hits and two walks. He followed up on Saturday with eight shutout innings allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out three Cubs.

Kickham, born in St. Louis, Missouri, was a sixth-round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2010 out of Missouri State University. He made his Major League debut against the Oakland A's on May 28th of this year. After his back-to-back victories last week, Kickham has improved to 6-7 on the season with a 4.41 ERA in 19 starts for the Grizzlies.
