The Spokane Indians plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning, and that was all they needed to finalize a sweep of the Tri-City Dust Devils in front of 2,481 onlookers Thursday night at Gesa Stadium.
Dust Devils (7-14 Second Half, 26-33 Overall) left fielder Mike Tauchman got another hit, his 17th of the month. He is currently batting .425 in August and .311 on the season. He is fourth in the Northwest League in batting. Center fielder Kyle Von Tungeln went 2-for-5 with a double, triple, and RBI.
Tri-City starting pitcher Johendi Jiminian (2-3) turned in another quality start on Thursday night. Jiminian held the Indians scoreless until the seventh inning. He finished the night with two runs on his record on six hits. In his 6 2/3 innings he struck out five and walked one while being charged with the loss.
Indians (11-10, 31-28) starter Eric Brooks was tremendous on the mound. Brooks did not surrender a run over his five innings of work while only allowing three Dust Devils hits. He ended the night with three strikeouts and a walk.
Brett Anderson (1-0) pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the Indians. He was credited with the win. Justin Sprenger came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings for a long save. The Indians have taken eight of the nine games against Tri-City this season, including all six at Gesa Stadium.
The Dust Devils start a five game series with the Boise Hawks Friday night at Gesa Stadium. It will be Faith Night presented by Meyer's Auto Tech and $1 Family Feast Night presented by Lamb Weston. The Dust Devils will send right-hander Ryan Warner to the bump, and the Hawks will start their own righty, Jose Rosario.
