Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Jorge Polanco has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to August 16, with a right groin strain. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Polanco has played in 111 games for the Kernels this season, batting .307 with four HR, 76 RBI and 31 doubles. The Twins signed Polanco as a non-drafted free agent on July 6, 2009 and he spent last season at Elizabethton where he hit .318 with five HR and 27 RBI in 51 games.

With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the MWL maximum of 25, with three players currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a seven game road trip tonight at 5:00 pm in Peoria. They return home to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 24th.
