Starter Yacksel Rios pitched 5 inning of no-hit baseball in the Cutters combined no-hitter Sunday. 

WILLIAMSPORT - Yacksel Rios, Mark Meadors and Manny Martinez wrote their names in the Cutters record books as they combined for a no-hitter of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in an 8-0 win.

Williamsport would get the scoring going in the bottom half of the 3rd inning when Gustavo Martinez scored on a double-play ball that was grounded into by Malquin Canelo to make it 1-0 Williamsport.

The Cutters would add on to their lead in the bottom half of the 4th inning when Samuel Hiciano ripped an RBI single to score Dylan Cozens from 3rd base to make it 2-0. For Hiciano, it was his 9th RBI in the last two games.

In the 5th inning Williamsport tacked on another run when Malquin Canelo scored on a ground ball out hit by Andrew Pullin. It was Pullin's 16th RBI on the season to give the Cutters a 3-0 lead.

Scrappers starter Cole Sulser was replaced after allowing three runs on eight hits before being replaced by Ben Heller. Sulser struck out four Cutters and was on the hook for the loss when he was replaced.

Cutters Starter Yacksel Rios was replaced after going five innings of hitless baseball by Mark Meadors. Rios struck out six Scrappers while walking three on 72 pitches.

Heller would be replaced after two scoreless innings of relief by Harold Guerrero in the 8th inning. Heller did not allow a run on one hit in his two innings of work.

Williamsport would get to Guerrero in the 8th inning. Zach Green would single in Andrew Knapp to make it 4-0. Gustavo Martinez followed with a two-run single to plate Zach Green and Dylan Cozens to make it 6-0. Later in the inning, Sameul Hiciano would score on an error by the Guerrero to make it 7-0. Malquin Canelo would cap the scoring with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to plate Gustavo Martinez and make it 8-0.

Guerrero would allow five runs in the eighth inning and did not record an out before being replaced by Manuel Carmona.

Mark Meadors would be replaced in the 9th inning by Manny Martinez. Meadors did not allow a run or a hit in three innings of work. Meadors struck out three Scrappers on 38 pitches before handing it over to Martinez.

Martinez would retire the side in the 9th inning to complete the combined no-hitter for the Williamsport Crosscutters and seal the 8-0 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
