Dustin Lawley Named FSL Player of the Year

The Florida State League has announced that Dustin Lawley has been named the league's Player of the Year.

The Florida State League Post-Season All-Star team was selected by Field Managers, Official Scorers, and club Sports Writers representing the 12 teams in the league. 

Lawley is hitting .259 with 25 home runs and 90 RBIs through 117 games played.  Lawley has 61 extra-base hits, including 31 doubles and has a .514 slugging percentage as well as 232 total bases.

Lawley leads the league in home runs, RBIs, extra-base hits, total bases, and also ranks second in the league in slugging percentage and is tied for third in doubles.

The 24-year-old  was named a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star and participated in the Home Run Derby.

Lawley was selected as the left fielder for the Florida State League Post-Season All-Star Team.

Lawley, a native of Adger, Alabama, is four home runs and four RBIs shy of tying the single-season mark in St. Lucie Mets club history.

T.J. Rivera was selected to the Post-Season All-Star team as a utility infielder. Rivera leads the Florida State League with 137 hits. He has a .296 average, 1 home run, and 43 RBIs. Rivera ranks fifth in the league in average and is tied for the second with 68 runs scored.

Matt Bowman, in his first professional season, was named one of four starting pitchers to the All-Star team.

Bowman is 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA through 16 starts. In 96 1/3 innings, he has struck out 90 while walking 31 and has allowed 83 hits and 36 runs (34 earned).  Bowman ranks sixth in the league in ERA and is fourth with a 1.18 WHIP. He also ranks third with a .232 opponents' batting average against.  Bowman is third in the league with the fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings.

St. Lucie Mets manager Ryan Ellis was named as one of the three coaches selected to the post-season All-Star Team.

Ellis, who was recognized as the Florida State League Manager of the Year in 2012, has guided the Mets currently to a 66-54 record, which is the third best record in the league.  The Mets won 37 games in the first half under Ellis and finished in second place in the Florida State League South Division.
