Entering the game, Luke Jackson was riding a streak of 18 straight scoreless innings. Jackson faced the minimum through the first two, but got in a bind in the third. With two outs in the seventh, Ladendorf launched a solo home run off the roof of the left field Diamond Deck to tie the game at two.

Max Muncy led off the 12th inning with a double to left-center, and Ladendorf walked. Catricala grounded to first, advancing the runners and later in the frame, then both runners scored on a fielding error by Odor, giving the 'Hounds a 4-2 lead
