The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons DH MAURO GOMEZ has been selected to the circuit's postseason All-Star Team. The team was determined by voting done by International League managers, coaches, media and club representatives.

Gomez is the 39th Bisons player to be named to a postseason All-Star Team in the modern era and the first since outfielder Ben Francisco during the 2007 season. The only other Bisons player to be selected in the DH position was Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Ernie Young in 2004.

In 103 games with the Bisons this season, Gomez has hit .243 (92-57) with 18 doubles, a triple, 28 home runs and 68 RBI. His 28 homers are tied for the 2nd most in the International League and in the top 10 in all of minor league baseball. Gomez also leads the Bisons in RBI (T8th in IL), extra-base hits (47) and total bases (196) and is T2nd on the team in runs scored (57).

A midseason All-Star, Gomez has five multi-homer games this season for the Bisons and has gone deep in back-to-back games on three separate occasions.

Gomez, who was also named to the squad in 2012 while playing for the Pawtucket Red Sox, becomes only the second player in International League history to be named the postseason All-Star designated hitter in consecutive seasons (Gwinnett's Barbaro Canizares, 2009-10).
