Clippers blank Bats 3-0
Tomlin strikes out four in five innings

A well-pitched game, highlighted by five quality innings from Josh Tomlin, led to a 3-0 Columbus shutout win over the Bats at Louisville Slugger Field.

After three scoreless innings of play, the Clippers broke through in the top of the fourth thanks to a David Cooper RBI single. It gave an early lead to Columbus righty Josh Tomlin, who pitched five shutout innings which included four strikeouts.

Columbus gave itself some breathing room with back-to-back RBI doubles by Matt LaPorta and Jeremy Hermida in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Nick Hagadone (S, 6) closed it out for Columbus. Tomlin (W, 1-0) got the win for Columbus. Pedro Villareal (L, 3-9) took the loss for Louisville.

The Bats and Clippers will change venues as they take on one another at Huntington Park starting on Wednesday night. T.J. House (6-10, 4.26) will start on the mound for Columbus. Louisville will go with right-hander Yohan Pino (5-7, 3.12). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
