FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 29, 2013) - Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nick Tepesch makes rehab start number two for the Frisco RoughRiders at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Friday, just three days after his two-inning outing on Tuesday. The Rangers right-hander is rehabbing from right elbow inflammation and has been on the disabled list since early July. Starting the final home game for the 'Riders in 2013, Tepesch is expected to be relieved by Luke Jackson, who has allowed one run in 23 innings since entering the Texas League.
Friday's game against the Corpus Christi Hooks is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark and is the last home game of the season for the 'Riders. Tickets remain and may be purchased at the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office, at www.RidersBaseball.com or by calling (972) 731-9200. A postgame fireworks show will follow Friday's contest.
On Tuesday, Tepesch went two-plus innings against the Hooks, allowing one run on three hits and a walk. He tossed 41 pitches, 26 of which were for strikes. He did not factor into the decision.
In 16 starts for Texas, he has posted a 4-6 record with a 4.85 ERA. In 85.1 innings this season, the Blue Springs, Missouri native has fanned 70 batters and walked 23. His last start came on July 5, when he picked up his fourth win in a 10-5 Rangers victory in Arlington over the Houston Astros. The following Sunday, he was placed on 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, and will pitch in a professional game on Tuesday for the first time in over a month.
Tepesch pitched for the 'Riders in the second half of his 2012 campaign. He went 6-3 for the club in 16 appearances, 14 starts, with a 4.28 ERA. He went on to make two starts for Frisco in the postseason run, tossing 13.1 scoreless frames over two starts.
