VIERA, FL - The Daytona Cubs won their ninth game in-a-row with a 3-2 victory over the Brevard County Manatees at Space Coast Stadium Thursday night.

RHP Corey Black (W, 4-0) won his fourth-straight start for Daytona with six strong innings of work. He surrendered a run on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Black gave up a leadoff double to CF D'Vontrey Richardson in the first inning, and a single to SS Yadiel Rivera which put runners on second and third with no outs, but held Brevard County to just one run in the inning. He gave up one infield single the rest of the night. Black leads the FSL with 116 strikeouts, nine more than any other pitcher.

Daytona scored all three of its runs in the first inning. RHP Mark Rogers (L, 0-2) loaded the bases with one out and surrendered a walk to 2B Anthony Giansanti which put the Cubs up 1-0. With two outs and the bases still loaded, C Chadd Krist extended his season-long hitting streak to 10-straight games with a two-run single to give Daytona a 3-0 lead.

LHP Jeff Lorick (S, 3) relieved Black and worked scoreless seventh and eighth innings. In the ninth, the Manatees scored a run and loaded the bases with two outs, but Lorick induced a 3B Brandon Macias ground out to end the game.

With the win, the Cubs improved to a league-best 73-50 on the season and 38-19 in the second half.

RF Bijan Rademacher went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in the game. CF Zeke DeVoss reached base three times with two walks and a hit-by-pitch.

Note: Over Daytona's nine-game winning streak, the Cubs have not trailed during any of the 75 innings they have played.

The Cubs and Manatees will play game two of the four-game series at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
