Ohlman Named League's Top Catcher

League Leader in Slugging Percentage Earns Honor

Frederick Keys catcher, Michael Ohlman was named to the end of season Carolina League All-Star Team as the lone catcher honored. He currently leads the league in slugging percentage (.523), while being top-five in the league in batting average (.307) and on-base percentage (.407).

Ohlman, 22, was injured in the second week of the season but bounced back to have his best professional campaign. The Orioles 11th round pick in 2009, Ohlman returned from the disabled list on May 23rd and proceeded to hit .355 in his next 35 games. He has hit better than .330 in three of the season's five months.

Earlier in the week Ohlman along with LHP Tim Berry were announced to be heading to the prospect-laden Arizona Fall League. Ohlman is the first Key to win the honor as a catcher since Caleb Joseph was named to the team in 2009. Other notable award winners as a catcher in the league are Victor Martinez (2001), Brian McCann (2004) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (2005).

Saturday, August 31st the Keys will return for their final home series of the regular season taking on the Potomac Nationals Labor Day weekend.
