C's fall 5-3 in final regular season home game
08/30/2013 8:25 PM ET

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The Canadians left ten runners on-base and couldn't capitalize on a number of key late inning moments as the Tri-City Dust Devils played the role of spoiler on Friday with a 5-3 victory over Vancouver in front of a sold out Scotiabank Field crowd.

The game remained scoreless up until the top of the 3rd inning when Tri-City put together a two-out rally against LHP Kyle Anderson to take a 3-0 lead. The first run came home when SS Patrick Valaika hit a RBI double, and Sean Dwyer scored a pair on a single, with the second run scoring on a throwing error.

The C's looked poised to get back in the game in the bottom of the 4th inning, as they scored a run on a base hit by C Seth Conner and then loaded the bases with one out. But reliever LHP Sam Moll came into the game and got out of the jam on one pitch, getting 2B David Harris to ground into an inning-ending double play to keep the score at 3-1.

The lead was cut to one in the bottom of the 7th inning when Harris scored from third on a passed ball, but the Dust Devils responded right away with two runs in the top of the 8th inning to make it 5-2. After Michael Tauchman singled, he stole second and third base before coming home on a double steal, and another run then plated on a single by 3B Ashley Graeter.

Vancouver added a run in the bottom of the 9th inning when Harris singled to lead off the inning and scored on a RBI groundout by 2B Andy Fermin, but 1B L.B. Dantzler grounded out against LHP Trent Daniel with a runner on second base to end the game.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 15-20 (.429) in the second half of the 2013 Northwest League season and 37-36 (.507) overall, while Tri-City moves to 14-21 (.400) and 33-40 (.452). Vancouver remains a half game up on Spokane in the overall North Division standings with Spokane yet to play on Friday.

The C's now finish the regular season with a three-game series in Tri-City, WA. Should they make the playoffs, the Canadians will host Game One of the North Division series against Everett on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:05pm.   Tickets to the game can be purchased by calling 604.872.5232 or by visiting the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office at 4601 Ontario Street.
