08/31/2013 10:04 AM ET

The first six Salem Red Sox to the plate all reached base in a five-run first inning that the Keys never recovered from as Frederick fell in the series finale by an 8-2 final. The loss ended a 2-6 road trip for the Keys who will now head home for their final series of the year.

Salem got an infield single and a throwing error to set the table in the opening inning. 3B Stefan Welch then hit a 3-2 fastball for a home run to right field for a 3-0 lead. The next three batters all singled and an RBI-groundout and SAC fly followed to plate two more runs.

Keys starter Zach Davies (7-9) was able to settle in retiring 12 batters in a row after his initial struggles. He finished the night having allowed seven runs, five earned in five innings. The loss was a fourth consecutive to end the season for Davies.

Frederick got back into the game in the fourth inning. With runners at the corners and one out, LF Tucker Nathans tripled off of the left field wall scoring two runs. Nathans would be stranded at third base and the score was 5-2. It ended up a big night for Nathans who went 3-for-4 with two RBI's. He finished a home run shy of the cycle.

Miguel Chalas came in out of the pen and allowed just one run in three innings of work. Salem starter Brian Johnson picked up his first Carolina League win in his second start.
