Rally Not Enough

Keys Come Up Short, 7-5
August 31, 2013

Down 7-0 in the seventh inning the Keys looked down and out. Frederick battled back valiantly however as they plated five runs in the closing innings but it was not enough. Potomac grabbed the series opener as Frederick fell by a 7-5 final.

The rally started in the seventh inning after DH Michael Ohlman walked. 1B Mike Mosby hit a two-run home run to left field and the big crowd of 8,122 came to life.

In the eighth inning down 7-3, Orioles 2B Ryan Flaherty hit a line drive home run to right field to bring the Keys within 7-4. Ohlman singled and then Mosby doubled to the gap to score Ohlman bringing the Keys to within 7-5.

Ohlman had a big night going 3-for-3 with a walk. He is now hitting .312, which ties the promoted Billy Burns of Potomac atop the Carolina League leaderboard.

Potomac grabbed the leader early as after a one-out walk CF Michael Taylor started a prolific night with a two-run home run to left field. Taylor was not done yet, as he doubled home two runs in the fifth inning and one more in the seventh. All-in-all, Taylor was 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBI's.

The series continues with LHP Trent Howard on the hill. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. It is Guns and Hoses Night as local police and fire will play a charity softball game at 3:30 p.m. Gates open 3:00 p.m. It is also the final fireworks show of the year.
