KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (August 31, 2013) -- Adam Lopez matched his career-high with nine strikeouts as the Kannapolis Intimidators dimmed the Hagerstown Suns, 4-1, on Saturday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Lopez (5-3) earned the win, his fourth in his last five starts, as Kannapolis evened their final series of the 2013 season at one game apiece.

Kannapolis took an early lead for the second straight night. Tim Anderson extended his career-best hitting streak to 12 games with a first-pitch single in the first inning. Anderson, the White Sox first round pick in the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft, stole second and scored on a Jason Coats double. Keon Barnum followed with a base hit chopped up the middle to cash Coats for a 2-0 lead.

Lopez, who entered the game with 23 consecutive scoreless innings under his belt, kept the Suns off the board over the first two frames. He opened the third by giving up an infield single to Pedro Severino, who moved to third on a Stephen Perez double. Severino scored when Issac Ballou grounded out, snapping Lopez's scoreless innings streak after 25 full frames.

Lopez worked 6 2/3 innings, allowing a run on four hits with one walk before turning things over to David Putman, who retired seven of eight batters faced for the save (2). Since moving into the rotation July 28, Lopez has gone 4-1 with a 1.58 ERA in seven starts.

Suns starter Jake Johansen gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking three. Johansen (0-2), the Nationals second round pick in the June 2013 draft, took the loss in his second start at the Class A level after opening his professional career with Short-Season Auburn.

Anderson finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Barnum went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jeremy Dowdy drove in an insurance run for Kannapolis with a fourth inning single, finishing 2-for-4. Adam Heisler drew four walks in his four plate appearances tonight, the most walks by an Intimidator in a single game this season. No other Intimidators drew a walk in the game.

Tonight's game was followed by the final fireworks show of the 2013 season, presented by Bank of America and East Coast Pyrotechnics.
