09/01/2013 7:17 PM ET

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Sept. 1, 2013) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators edged the Hagerstown Suns, 5-3 (F/6), in a rain-shortened contest on Sunday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The game was called in the middle of the sixth.

The Intimidators broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fourth on Jacob May's two-run single that brought home Nick Basto and Cleuluis Rondon. May, the White Sox third round pick in the June 2013 draft, finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, while Rondon was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Jefferson Olacio spun a quality start in his final outing of the year, limiting the Suns to three runs (two earned) on four hits over 6.0 innings. The 6'7" left-hander struck out four and walked one, improving to 6-11 with Kannapolis this season. Olacio posted a 2.78 ERA in the second half of the season. This was his third complete game of the season, which ranks second-most in the SAL.

Kannapolis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to five singles by Keon Barnum, Brent Tanner, Kale Kiser, Basto and Rondon. The Suns knotted the game in the top of the fourth with a three-run inning. Khayyan Norfork put Hagerstown on the board with a two-run double and later scored on a Kannapolis error.

Suns starter Pedro Encarnacion (10-9) took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits while striking out eight and walking none in 5.0 innings.

The Intimidators wrap up the 2013 season on Labor Day Monday at 1:05 p.m. against the Suns. The season finale features an All-You-Can-Eat picnic for only $10 which starts at noon and runs through the middle of the seventh inning.
