Cubs top prospect homers again, grabs Minors RBI lead

Javier Baez hit a three-run homer, his second in as many games, as Tennessee bested Chattanooga, 4-3, for its sixth straight win on Sunday.

The Cubs' top prospect has 37 homers, including 20 since joining the Smokies on June 28, and leads the Minor Leagues with 111 RBIs in 129 games.

Brett Jackson smacked an RBI double to snap a ninth-inning tie for Tennessee and Matt Loosen fanned five over four hitless innings to get the win.

Angelo Songco plated a pair of runs for the Lookouts.

White Sox No. 4 prospect Trayce Thompson went 3-for-4 with two homers, a double and three RBIs as Birmingham beat Montgomery, 7-1.

Dan Black smacked a two-run double and David Hrbek was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Barons, who got six strong innings from Spencer Arroyo. No. 15 prospect Micah Johnson singled and recorded his 84th stolen base and first at Double-A.

Shawn O'Malley doubled in the Biscuits' lone run.

Eastern League Rookie of the Year Alex Dickerson went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to lead Altoona to an 8-3 triumph over Akron.

Andy Vazquez slugged a three-run homer and Pirates No. 3 prospect Alen Hanson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Curve. Nate Baker gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out seven over six innings to earn the win.

Indians No. 5 prospect Tyler Naquin was 3-for-5 for the Aeros.

Yankees top prospect Gary Sanchez hit his second Double-A homer and drove in two runs to lead Trenton past Portland, 9-4.

Reegie Corona slugged a two-run shot and Ben Gamel went 3-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot for the Thunder. Nik Turley earned his 11th win after yielding two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over five innings.

Red Sox No. 7 prospect Garin Cecchini reached base five times and scored a run for the Sea Dogs.

Brandon Hynick allowed two hits over five innings for his 12th win as Arkansas blanked Northwest Arkansas, 2-0.

Travis Witherspoon provided the Travelers' offense with a two-run double in the second. Mike Morin tossed a perfect ninth ifor his 10th save after Angels No. 7 prospect Nick Maronde gave up a hit in one inning.

Sugar Ray Marimon suffered his 14th loss, despite striking out seven and giving up two runs on two hits over seven innings for the Naturals.
