(Bowling Green, KY)- The Lake County Captains dropped the season finale to the Bowling Green Hot Rods by a final of 10-2. The Hot Rods hit four homeruns and stole seven bases. Overall on the day Bowling Green had seven stolen bases. The Captains finished the season with a record of 54- 83.
The Hot Rods had a total of fourteen hits. Leonardo Reginatto had three hits including a homerun. Patrick Leonard, Joey Rickard, and Ryan Dunn all had two hits. Brandon Martin and Marty Gantt had two RBI's and Reginatto knocked in three. The Hot Rods stole seven bases and smacked one double. The Hot Rods (82-56) won the Midwest League Eastern Division in the second half and have the overall best record heading into the playoffs.
Lake County had eight hits in the game. Eric Haase was two for three and raised his final batting average to .250. Leonardo Castillo had two hits and a homerun. Levon Washington had two hits including a double. LeVon ended the season on a 13 game hitting streak. Zack MacPhee doubled and Jeremy Lucas singled. The Captains committed four errors on the day.
RHP Juan Santana (0-1) started the game for Lake County and took the loss. Santana pitched four innings,a nd allowed ten hits. He allowed six runs, five were earned. He fanned three and allowed two homers. The Captains used three pitchers out of the bullpen. Anderson Polanco, Jack Wagoner and Cody Penny were the pitchers used. The pen allowed four runs, two were earned on four hits with walks and four strikeouts.
LHP Bruedlin Suero (1-0) started the game for the Hot Rods and allowed one earned run on five hits in three innings pitched. He fanned three and allowed the homer to Castillo. The Hot Rods used three pitchers out of the bullpen. The win went to Jose Molina (4-4).
The Captains will open the 2014 season in Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio. Opening day is April 4, 2014 and the time of First Pitch is 6:30 PM.
