Aces Sweep Bees in Season Finale

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-Reno's bats were alive on Monday afternoon, as the Aces trounced the Salt Lake Bees 17-7 to earn their second series sweep in the final series of the season.

Aces batters combined for 18 hits on the night, tying their third highest total of the season. Matt Davidson and Brad Snyder each finished their afternoon going 4-for-5 with a double and a home run and five RBI each. Tuffy Gosewisch also homered in the game.

Chris Owings entered the game in hot pursuit of Tucson's Dean Anna for the Pacific Coast League batting title. Owings went 3-3 across his first three stops at the plate, before he was retired in each of his next three plate appearances. He finished the season with a .330 batting average, slightly behind Anna. Owings had a spectacular game, finishing 3-for-6 with two RBI, three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Juan Rivera was the lone Aces batter not to reach base in the game, finishing 0-for-6.

The Aces posted five multi-run innings, and did not score in just three frames. Reno's 17 runs were the second-most for the club in 2013. With the win, Reno finished the season 60-84.

The club also tied the Reno franchise record for most double plays in a game, turning five on the afternoon.

Reno starter Mike Bolsinger earned the win to even his record at 7-7 in his first season at the Triple-A level. He allowed five runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings pitched, while walking three and striking out two. Relievers Brett Lorin and Shawn Camp each allowed a run over the final 4.0 frames on a combined five hits.
