Dayton, Ohio-Socrates Brito hit a home run and Andrew Velazquez collected three hits as the South Bend Silver Hawks defeated the Dayton Dragons 11-1 on Monday afternoon in the final game of the 2013 season for the Dragons.

The Dragons closed out the 2013 season with a second half record of 37-33 and a full-season mark of 65-74. Monday's attendance of 8,050 raised the final full-season total to 579,946. The Dragons consecutive game sell-out streak reached 983 and will continue into the 2014 season. The Dragons home record in the second half was 21-14.

Brito's home run to right field broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth inning. The Silver Hawks went on to score three more runs in the fourth, four in the fifth, and two in the sixth to build an 11-1 lead. South Bend starting pitcher Jesse Darrah (12-9) worked the first five innings to earn in the win and move into a tie for league leadership in victories. He allowed five hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts.

Dragons starting pitcher Jackson Stephens worked three and one-third innings, allowing eight hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts. He suffered the loss to fall to 3-7.

The Dragons finished with 11 hits. Beau Amaral, Jeff Gelalich, and Humberto Valor each had two. Daniel Pigott had one hit to end the season with an 11-game hitting streak. 

The Dragons will open the 2014 season on April 3rd. The complete 2014 schedule will be announced this week. 

Notes: The Dragons broke the club record for fewest errors in a season. They committed one error on Monday to increase their total to 137 on the year. The Dragons club record for fewest errors was 141…Amaral stole his 40th base of the season Monday to tie for second on the Dragons all-time single-season list.
