Scrappers deliver a shutout to end the 2013 season

Auburn, NY- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers picked up a 2-0 shutout win on Wednesday night in Auburn to close out the 2013 season. The Scrappers took the series against the Doubleday, 2-1 to finish with a 30-44 record.

Caleb Hamrick (3-6) was tremendous in his final outing of the season. He worked 5 innings scattering 6 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 3 without allowing a run. Carlos Melo and Ben Heller then each worked an inning of relief. Melo was perfect, striking out 2. Heller allowed a hit but no runs while striking out 2. Trevor Frank then worked the final 2 innings of the season to record his 3rd save of the year. HE allowed 1 hit and walked 1.

Offensively the Scrappers couldn't get anything going until the 6th inning. Juan Romero greeted Auburn reliever Casey Selsor with his 6th homerun of the season. The Scrappers added an insurance run in the same inning when with 1 out, Grant Fink delivered an RBI double to score Claudio Bautista from 2nd.
