Former Fisher Cats shortstop Ryan Goins is making quite the impression with the Toronto Blue Jays. Promoted to the big leagues for the first time in August, Go-Go has done nothing but shine in his major league debut.

The Fisher Cats team MVP from a year ago, Goins made his debut on August 23, going 2-4 with his first extra-base hit, a double, against the Houston Astros. A week later, he had hit safely in his first eight major league games highlighted by a six-hit series against the New York Yankees.

Through his first 15 games, Goins was hitting .314 thanks to a two-hit performance on Sunday, September 9, in a win over the Minnesota Twins. He also made a dazzling play at second base on Sunday, something that has become the norm for Goins over the last few years.

A Texan, Goins earned his big league opportunity by hitting .257 over 111 games with Triple-A Buffalo, playing mostly shortstop, but filling in at second base occasionally. With the Fisher Cats a year ago, he led the team in most offensive categories while playing some of the best shortstop defense in the Eastern League.

If you're up for some travel, you can take a short flight to Toronto or hop in the car for about 10 hours to see Goins before the season ends. For a shorter trip, the Blue Jays do make one more trip to Fenway Park from September 20-22.
