Omaha rallied with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, as the Storm Chasers edged the Salt Lake Bees 3-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the Best of Five Pacific Coast League Championship Series. Salt Lake led 2-1 in the seventh when with two outs and no one on base, Rey Navarro extended the inning with a single to center. Manny Pina followed with a double into the left field corner to bring home Navarro with the tying run. Irving Falu opened up the eighth with a single to left and advanced to second on a sacrifice. After Anthony Seratelli walked, Ben Broussard lined a 1-1 pitch from Dustin Richardson to center to score Falu with the eventual winning run. The Bees went three up, three down in the top of the ninth to close out the game.
After rain suspended play after one and one-half innings on Tuesday night with the game tied 1-1, Luis Rodriguez gave the Bees a 2-1 lead when he led off the fourth by lifting a 3-1 pitch from Clayton Mortensen over the right field fence for his first postseason home run. Salt Lake managed only five hits in the game, none after Rodriguez' home run. Rusty Ryal drove in the first Bees' run with an infield single in the second inning that tied the game at 1-1. Barry Enright went four and one-third innings and allowed no runs on five hits. The Bees' infield turned four 6-4-3 double plays.
