The Iowa Cubs have paid internships available in several departments for the 2014 baseball season. Applicants should have a strong interest in gaining experience in the sports industry, be highly motivated and hard working, and have a willingness to learn and to work long hours and weekends during the summer months. Internships are available in media relations, retail, sales and marketing, group ticket sales, stadium operations, ticket operations and video production. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to the appropriate contact.
Assist with all aspects of facility operations and management with Iowa Cubs baseball games and outside events such as high school games. Participate in game day activities, specifically on-field promotions and the set up of client-sponsored promotions. Provide daily housekeeping and maintenance in the stadium, offices, skyboxes, and restaurant. Management of game-day event staff such as parking attendants, ushers, security, and first aid; daily contact with clubhouse attendants, bat boys, trainers, and umpires. Contact Jeff Tilley
Camera work and basic video graphics production for internet webcasts, closed-circuit television system in the ballpark, and video boards in the stadium. Four camera operators and four/five control room persons will work each game. Contact Scott Sailor Note: Interviews will begin in late February.
Assist store manager in restocking the store and merchandise sales. Help oversee the part-time staff and assist with closing and balancing the sales drawers. Merchandising the store, conducting inventory, and providing input on new merchandise. Contact Nicole Stang
The photographer will join the communications team and work selected games during the season at Principal Park. Photos of fans and groups, and other special events, at the game are needed for the Iowa Cubs' web site and various publications. Some game-action photography is needed as well. The Iowa Cubs also host the 28-game high school state baseball tournament in late July at Principal Park. Action and fan photos are needed from each game, and photos are uploaded to the tournament web site immediately after each game. This position is mostly "game-time" only - and probably for fewer than half of the 72-game Iowa Cubs home schedule (mostly weekends and nights of special events).
