CURVE, Pa. - With the Pirates advancing to the National League division series after tonight's, 6-2, win over Cincinnati, the Altoona Curve will now host a Pirates Playoff Watch Party presented by the Altoona Mirror at Peoples Natural Gas Field for the series opener with the St. Louis Cardinals. The watch party will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday night and admission to come in and watch the game is free.
The Curve will show the Pirates-Cardinals game in its entirety on the video board in left-center field as well as each of the concourse televisions at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday night. Concessions stands on the lower level of the ballpark will be open for fans to purchase food and drinks while taking in the divisional round matchup. Pirates' playoff merchandise (men's and kids t-shirts, sweatshirts and caps) will also be for sale during the watch party on Thursday.
"We could think of no better way to share our excitement for the Buccos' playoff run than opening the ballpark for the fans to enjoy together," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "With our large video board, the concourse TVs, food and beverage availability, and the other activities we have planned, it will be a great night to be a Pirates' fan in Curve, PA."
A 4' x 8' congratulatory fan banner will be on display on Thursday night. Fans attending the watch party will have the opportunity to sign the banner for a $1 donation to the Altoona Mirror's Season of Sharing program. The banner itself will be shipped on Friday morning in time to reach PNC Park for the playoff game that would take place on Sunday.
Those that attend the watch party on Thursday night are encouraged to come dressed in their best and elite Bucco garb as the Curve will crown a Best Dressed Bucco fan during the watch party. That fan will take home tickets to next season's Eastern League All-Star Game, which will be played in Curve, Pa. on July 16, 2014.
