Bryan Barkley Honored by MiLB
Wins MiLB Sports Turf Manager Of The Year For Short Season-A/Rookie Classification

Norwich, CT -The Connecticut Tigers, Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are proud to announce Bryan Barkley has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the Sports Turf Manager of the Year award across all of the Short Season-A/Rookie classification of Minor League Baseball.

Barkley was selected as the Groundskeeper of the Year Award recipient for the New York-Penn League following the 2013 season. The winners of the award from each league were then nominated for the Sports Turf Manager of the Year Award for each respective level of Minor League Baseball.

Other recipients include Chris Ball (AAA-Gwinnett Braves), Brock Phipps (AA-Springfield Cardinals), and Keith Winter (A-Fort Wayne TinCaps). The awards are sponsored by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) and will be presented at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, FL on December 9, 2013.

This is the top honor a Sports Turf Manager can receive in Minor League Baseball and once again is a testament to all of the hard work he and his staff have put in year-round," said CT Tigers Vice President and General Manager C.J. Knudsen. "It's exciting for the community to have Dodd Stadium and the Tigers staff recognized for being one of the top-notch facilities in the country."

2013 marked the fourth season for Barkley with the Connecticut Tigers organization. He was one of the original staff members hired when the team took over operation of Dodd Stadium in April of 2010.

The Connecticut Tigers are the New York- Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game (38 home, 38 away) schedule that runs from mid June through early September. 2014 season tickets are now on sale!
