DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) has announced that Fort Myers Miracle trainer Alan Rail has been selected by his peers as the 2013 Florida State League Athletic Trainer of the Year.
Rail, 35, completed his first season with the Miracle in 2013 and will return as the Athletic Trainer in 2014. The Miracle finished the 2013 season with the best record in the Florida State League at 79-56. After winning the first half with a 45-22 mark, the Miracle returned to the FSL playoffs for the first time since 2009.
"It's an honor to be recognized by my colleagues and I look forward to our upcoming season," said Rail, one of 17 league winners to be considered for Minor League Athletics Trainer of the Year. The award will be announced in Orlando, Fla. at the Baseball Winter Meetings.
Rail began his athletic training career in 2004 with the Elizabethton Twins and worked eight seasons with the Beloit Snappers.
"It's really nice to see Alan recognized," said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour. "This is another well-deserved award from the 2013 Miracle season."
The Miracle are gearing up for the 2014 season. Season and group ticket packages are now available. For more information, call the Miracle offices at (239) 768-4210 or visit www.miraclebaseball.com.
