Annual Hot Stove Event Sold Out

The Williamsport Crosscutters have announced that Phillies third baseman Cody Asche and field reporter Gregg Murphy have been added to the guest list for the 8^th Annual Hot Stove Banquet with the Phillies will be held on Monday, January 20 at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport. Other guests previously announced include Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg, the Phillie Phanatic and Montoursville native Tom O'Malley. 

Asche, drafted in the 4^th round of the 2011 draft, made his professional debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters in 2011. In 68 games with the Cutters that season, he hit .192 with 2 home runs and 19 RBI's. Asche caught fire in 2012 hitting .349 in 62 games at Clearwater (A) and .300 in 68 games in Reading (AA). He appeared in a total of 50 games for the Phillies in 2013 with 5 home runs and 22 RBI's and looks to be the favorite to be the Phillies starting third baseman on Opening Day 2014.  

 

Murphy joined the Phillies broadcast team in 2012. In his role as field reporter, he brings viewers closer to the action reporting from the field, dugouts and throughout the ballpark during games.

 

Sandberg, a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, began the 2013 season as the Phillies 3rd base coach, was named interim manager in August and formally named as the Phillies skipper in September.

 

O'Malley made his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants in 1982 spending a total of 9 seasons in the Major Leagues.   He then went on to play six highly successful seasons in Japan.

The evening, presented by Lycoming Mall, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, the home of the Phillies in Williamsport WRAK & Woodlands Bank, will consist of dinner, entertainment featuring interviews and Q & A segments with many of the special guests, in addition to Chinese and live auctions of Phillies & other sports memorabilia. 

One of the event highlights is the announcement of the latest inductee to the Bowman Field Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was started in 1989 by the Bowman Field Commission and the Williamsport Bills as a way to honor those who were influential and important to the history of Bowman Field and professional baseball in Williamsport. The Bowman Field Hall of Fame, dormant since 1991, was revived by the Crosscutters in 2009. The latest inductee is expected to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

 

The dinner and entertainment portion of the event will begin at 6:30 PM, preceded by an hour of mingling, fun and games with Boomer and the Phillie Phanatic, plus the start of the Chinese auction. Free autographs will be available for attendees at the close of event.

 

Tickets are $49 for adults and $39 for children age 12 and under. The Crosscutters 2014 season opens on Friday, June 13 as Williamsport hosts the State College Spikes. Season tickets and Bonus Book mini-plans are now available by phone, online or in-person at Susquehanna Bank Park at Bowman Field.
