Hilllcats prez hospitalized after accident
Angel has undergone surgery, remains in serious condition

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Lynchburg Hillcats team president Rex Angel, a member of the Lynchburg Baseball Corporation since its inception in 1965, was taken to the hospital Wednesday due to an injury he suffered at home. He has been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Angel suffered a fall at home Wednesday. He has since undergone surgery and is in serious condition.

Hillcats general manager Paul Sunwall said, "Rex is a dear friend of mine and everyone here at the Hillcats. His contribution to our organization has been immeasurable over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones at this time, and we hope that the community will keep him in their prayers as well."

Angel began his association with Lynchburg Baseball Corp. in 1965 as an accountant. In 1978, he became a stockholder and was later named vice president, director and member of the Executive Committee. In November 2009, he was named President of Lynchburg Baseball Corp.
