Baltimore, MD - The Baltimore Orioles announced the coaching staff this afternoon for the Aberdeen IronBirds, their Class-A Short Season affiliate.

Manager Matt Merullo returns for his second season after a successful inaugural season in Aberdeen in 2013. Merullo guided the IronBirds to a 40-32 record, a McNamara Division Championship and the first playoff berth in team history.

Merullo will be joined by Pitching Coach Justin Lord and Trainer Chris Poole. Kevin Clark, the Strength and Conditioning Coach, returns for his second season in Aberdeen as well.

"We are thrilled to have Matt Merullo back in Aberdeen this season," Assistant General Manager Brad Cox said. "We are also excited to welcome Justin and Chris to Aberdeen to help the IronBirds defend their division title."

A hitting coach for the IronBirds will be announced at a later date.

The IronBirds open the 2014 season on June 13th in Hudson Valley against the Renegades.

Aberdeen opens the home portion of their schedule on June 20th at 7:35 p.m. against the Brooklyn Cyclones.
