Early Games

Red Sox 0, Marlins 0 (7 innings) Box »

The Grapefruit League campaign for Allen Webster didn't get off to a hot start March 1 when he surrendered three runs on four hits over just 1 1/3 innings. But the right-handed hurler turned things around Thursday. Webster allowed just one first-inning single before retiring seven Marlins in a row to complete his three-inning outing in Boston's rain-shortened affair with Miami. Fellow Boston prospect Deven Marrero, who is known more for his glove than his bat, went 2-for-4 at the plate and turned in several nifty plays at shortstop.
