Fred Nelson - Development Supervisor

Fred Nelson enters the 2015 season, his first with the Boise Hawks and his third with the Rockies as a supervisor of development after spending 27 seasons in the Astros organization, where he served in a variety of roles, most recently as director of player development...was also director of professional scouting, director of Minor League operations, special assistant to the general manager, Major League and professional scout, and was also an advance scout...Nelson also served as assistant director of player development with the Chicago White Sox in 1985 before moving to Houston...managed three seasons at Niagara Falls in the New York-Penn League from addition, Nelson was head baseball coach at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis (1973-75) and head baseball coach at Scottsdale Community College (1975-84). A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Nelson earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Arizona State University, where he was an All-American infielder and a member of the 1967 National Championship team...he was inducted into the Arizona State Sports Hall of Fame in 1998...Nelson and his wife, Carolyn, reside in Cave Creek, Ariz
