Tulsa to host Corpus Christi and San Antonio in opening 6-game homestand

The Tulsa Drillers kick off their 2014 season on Thursday, April 3 when they host the 2013 Texas League South Division Champion Corpus Christi Hooks, the AA affiliate of the Houston Astros. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM at ONEOK Field. 

The game is the first of a six-game homestand that will run through Tuesday, April 8. The Drillers will host Corpus Christi for three games, April 3-5. The defending Texas League Champion San Antonio Missions, AA affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will be in town for the second half of the six-game stretch, April 6-8.

Starting times for all three games in the series against Corpus Christi are scheduled for 7:05 PM. First pitch for the Sunday, April 6 game against San Antonio is scheduled for 2:05 PM, and first pitch for the Monday, April 7 game is slated for 12:05 PM. 

The Drillers will wrap up the opening home stint with their third game against San Antonio on Tuesday, April 8, first pitch at 7:05 PM. 

In addition to Opening Night, other promotions in the first homestand will include News on 6 Friday Night Fireworks on April 4, Tulsa's Channel 8 Grand Slam Saturday Build-A-Bear giveaway on April 5 and Daytime Baseball on Monday, April 7. The complete promotional list for the opening homestand is below. 

Individual tickets for the opener and the other five games in the homestand are currently available for purchase online at, in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office (201 N. Elgin Avenue) or over the phone at (918) 744-5901.

Since moving to downtown Tulsa in 2010, the Drillers are 2-2 in home openers at ONEOK Field.

OPENING NIGHT PARADE: The Drillers annual Opening Night Parade will begin at 6:00PM. The parade will include a number of dignitaries and youth teams and will begin on Greenwood Avenue before concluding at the corner of Archer Street and Elgin Avenue. Pre-game festivities for Opening Night will include a large, American Flag on the field and The Ballpark Choir. The choir has approximately 150 members and will perform the National Anthem. The DrillVille Drummers, a new part of the entertainment at ONEOK Field, will also make their debut.

$2 TUESDAYS RETURN: The popular 2 Works For You $2 Tuesday promotion returns this year and will be the featured promotion at the final game of the homestand on April 8. Fans can purchase $2 tickets on the Primeaux Kia Lawn as well as $2 soft drinks, hot dogs, soft pretzels, popcorn boxes and Mazzio's pizza slices.




Thursday, April 3 . . . Corpus Christi Hooks (7:05 PM) - Gates Open at 5:30 PM
Baseball returns to Tulsa when the Drillers play their first game of the 2014 season at ONEOK Field! Opening night activities are brought to you by Fox 23, FM 102.3 and AM740 News Talk KRMG. The festivities will begin with the Drillers' annual Opening Night Parade! The parade will begin at 6:00 PM and will end at approximately 6:45 PM. Fans can line up along Greenwood Avenue and Archer Street, which run along the adjacent east and south sides of ONEOK Field. The parade will begin at OETA Tulsa (across from OSU-Tulsa) and conclude at the Oil Derrick Entrance of ONEOK Field at the corner of Archer Street and Elgin Avenue. The parade will feature the Tulsa Fire Department, art cars, local Little League Teams, Drillers players and Hornsby! Pre-game activities will conclude with a flyover by legendary World War II aircraft.   
Just in case Opening Night is not enough incentive, it is also the first Thirsty Thursday of the year. Twelve ounce servings of Bud and Bud Light draught beers and 16 ounce servings of Pepsi products will all be on sale for only $1 each. Be sure to check out our new "Bottoms Up" beer taps, which literally fill your beers from the bottom up! 
All fans will receive a 2014 Tulsa Drillers schedule magnet from Mazzio's when they enter the stadium.  

Friday, April 4 . . . Corpus Christi Hooks (7:05 PM) - Gates Open at 6:00 PM
Following the game is the first News On 6 Friday Night Fireworks display of the season! It is presented by Saint Francis Health System, 98.5 KVOO and News On 6.
Special Drillers Rally Towels will be placed on every seat in the lower seating bowls, courtesy of Saint Francis.

Saturday, April 5 . . . Corpus Christi Hooks (7:05 PM) - Gates Open at 6:00 PM
The first 1,000 fans, age 14 & under, to enter the stadium with a paid admission will receive custom Build-A-Bears outfitted in Drillers shirts and hats, compliments of U.S. Cellular, 106.9 K-HITS and Tulsa's Channel 8! Fans are also encouraged to bring their stuffed animals from home for a special donation drive. Everyone will be asked to toss their stuffed items onto the field during the 7th Inning Stretch. Items will be collected and donated to the Laura Dester Shelter.

Sunday, April 6 . . . San Antonio Missions (2:05 PM) - Gates Open at 12:30 PM
It's 2 News Works for You Kids Eat Free Souvenir Sunday and the first 500 fans, ages 12 and under, to enter the stadium through the Arvest and Oil Derrick Entrances will receive a "Future Driller" T-shirt. All kids, 12 and under, will get a Kids Eat Free Coupon that is redeemable for a free hot dog, an ice cream novelty and a Fruiter Shooter fruit drink. It is all courtesy of the Green Country Chevy Dealers, K95.5FM, and 2 News Works for You.  
Before the game, youth baseball and softball players will be allowed onto the field for a clinic with the Drillers. The clinic will run from 12:45-1:30PM. Kids wishing to participate are encouraged to arrive at the stadium at 12:30PM. 
All fans can pick up a free sapling from Up With Trees and the M.e.t. to plant at home and grow their own bat! This special giveaway will be available in the Arvest Plaza as fans exit the stadium. 
After the game, kids can circle the bases of ONEOK Field! The line begins in the first row between sections 103 and 104.

Monday, April 7 . . . San Antonio Missions (12:05 PM) - Gates Open at 11:00 AM
It is the first weekday afternoon game of the season, presented by BOB 92.9 FM! It's your chance to enjoy baseball under the sun at ONEOK Field!

Tuesday, April 8 . . . San Antonio Missions (7:05 PM) - Gates Open at 6:00 PM
The first $2 Tuesday of the year is brought to you by 2 Works For You and 106.1 The Twister! Fans can purchase tickets for the Kia Primeaux Lawn for only $2 each, while all other tickets are discounted $3 off normal prices. In addition, hot dogs, Mazzio's Pizza slices, 21 oz. Pepsi fountain drinks, jumbo soft pretzels and boxes of popcorn will all be on sale for $2 each. Finally, from 6:00-8:00 PM, it's $2 Corona Happy Hour! Corona bottles will be on sale for only $2 each at the beer carts located next to Siegi's Sausage Shack behind home plate and the BBQ Cart on the third base concourse.
