(Beloit-WI)- The Burlington Bees could not cap off an eighth inning rally in a 6-4 loss to the Snappers. The loss caps off a four game series with Beloit and hands the Bees their second straight defeat.
For the fourth straight game this season, the Burlington Bees scored first when Kody Eaves smacked an RBI double to left center scoring Mark Shannon from second to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Beloit erased the Bees' lead in the second inning when Ryan Matthews and Phil Pohl collected RBI singles to give the Snappers a 2-1 lead.
Ranyelmy Mendoza evened up the score at 2-2 in the fourth inning with an RBI single scoring Chad Hinshaw.
Angel Rosa snatched the lead back for the Bees in the 6th with an RBI double scoring Chad Hinshaw making it 3-2.
Just like game three of the series, game four went back and forth and Tyler Marincov gave the Snappers the lead back with a two run homer in the sixth, making it 4-3 in favor of Beloit.
The Snappers secured an insurance run in the seventh, former Burlington Bee Sam Roberts laid down a bunt on a squeeze play that scored Ryan Matthews making the score 5-3.
Burlington cut the Snappers lead to 5-4 when Chad Hinshaw crossed the plate on a wild pitch. The Bees would load the bases with two out but couldn't capitalize, stranding the bases loaded.
Beloit added an insurance run in the eighth inning and went on to win the series finale, 6-4.
Bees' starting pitcher Garrett Nuss, worked five innings allowing just two runs and striking out four in a no decision. Eswarlin Jimenez was charged with the loss in relief and Brent Powers picked up the win for Beloit as Chris Lamb locked down the save.
