04/23/2014 9:39 PM ET

The SeaWolves used a stellar pitching performance from starter Kyle Ryan as they took down the Bowie Baysox 6-0 on Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium.

Erie got the scoring started in the top of the second against Bowie starter Zach Davies. With one out, Steven Moya singled and moved into scoring position on a Dean Green walk. Francisco Martinez singled home Moya for a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Eugenio Suarez reached on a one-out error and was doubled to third by Aaron Westlake. Ramon Cabrera hit into a fielder's choice and Suarez was retired trying to score. Moya followed and walked to load the bases. Green followed an on the first pitch of the at-bat, crushed a grand slam over the wall in right for a 5-0 Erie lead. The home run for Green was his first of the season and the grand slam was Erie's first since Wade Gaynor blasted a one at Reading on April 13, 2013.

Erie added an additional run in the fifth against reliever Fabio Castillo. Suarez led off with a double and scored on a one-out Cabrera base hit making it 6-0.

Ryan (2-2) was on cruise control for most of the game. He scattered two hits over seven shutout innings of work, both singles. Ryan walked four and struck out two in the win. The only Baysox threat against the Erie lefty came in the third when they loaded the bases with two outs. Ryan worked out of that jam and faced just two over the minimum over his final four innings of work.

Chad Smith and Corey Knebel tossed the final two innings preserving the shutout.

The shutout win was the SeaWolves second of the season and the first since a 2-0 win over Altoona on April 5.
