66ers' 12 inning rally drops Lancaster

JetHawks leave 13 on-base in extra-innings loss to Inland Empire
April 24, 2014

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The JetHawks failed to score with runners at second and third and nobody out in the top of the 12th inning before falling in the bottom of the inning to the Inland Empire 66ers 4-3 on Wednesday night at San Manuel Stadium.

Chance Ross led off the bottom of the 12th with a double off Tyson Perez (0-1) and was moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt. Perez walked the next batter he faced and was relieved by J.D. Osborne.

Osborne also issued a walk to load the bases before Sherman Johnson lined a base-hit to right field to win the game.

Lancaster had put runners at second and third with no outs in the top half of the inning but Eduard Santos came in from the bullpen and got out of the jam. Rio Ruiz and Brandon Meredith struck out before Jordan Scott flew out to left field.

Mark Appel started the game for Lancaster and gave up three runs on six hits over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked one.

The JetHawks bullpen allowed just two hits from the third inning to the 11th inning.

Carlos Perdomo picked up the JetHawks first run of the game in the second inning with a sacrifice-fly and Lancaster scored two more to tie the game in the sixth.

Tony Kemp led off with a walk, stole second base and moved to third base on a fly ball before scoring on a Carlos Correa bloop single. Correa stole second and scored on a Meredith base-hit.

Mike Hauschild tossed four scoreless innings of relief for the JetHawks, allowing just one run while striking out three.

The JetHawks (13-7) dropped into second place with the loss, one game behind High Desert. They take on the 66ers (7-13) in the series finale on Thursday night in San Bernardino. Kyle Westwood and Vince Velasquez will pitch for the JetHawks against Nate Smith. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
