North Little Rock, AR - Five Springfield Cardinals combined to shut out the Arkansas Travelers, 2-0, before 8,139 fans at Dickey-Stephens Park on Saturday night. The first-place Cardinals claimed their third straight win, improving to 4-2 on the current road trip.

LHP Kyle Hald made the start for the Cardinals (12-10) and tossed 4.2 scoreless innings before giving way to the bullpen. LHP Ryan Sherriff (W, 1-1) retired the final out in the bottom of the fifth, before the Cardinals bats broke through in the top of the sixth inning.

Facing Arkansas LHP Brandon Sisk (L, 0-1) to start the sixth, CF James Ramsey worked a walk to get on base. DH David Popkins followed with a pinch-hit double belted to right-center field, advancing Ramsey to third base. With both runners in scoring position, 1B Jonathan Rodriguez broke the scoreless tie with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Ramsey and moving Popkins to third. RF Curt Smith followed with an RBI single through the right side of the infield, plating Popkins to make it 2-0.

Sherriff then worked through a scoreless sixth inning, and then LHP Danny Miranda tossed a shutout seventh. RHP Ronnie Shaban recorded the first two outs in the eighth, before LHP Dean Kiekhefer (S, 5) slammed the door with a perfect 1.1 innings of work, closing the 2-0 shutout win for the Cardinals.
