Lara earns Cal League Player of the Week

Maverick's 1st baseman and right fielder Jordy Lara has been named the California League player of the week for the week played from April 21-27.  He batted an impressive .417, while reaching the base paths .516 of the time, and had a slugging percentage of .792. In the seven games that week, he went 10-for-24 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 7 R, 6 BB, and 2 K's. 

Lara, a Dominican Republic native, was signed as a non-draft free agent in 2008. Last year he came up to the Desert for 15 games and held a batting average of .311.
