Moosic, Pa. - Jose Pirela's swing has garnered some attention. Today, the International League named the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders' (Triple-A/New York Yankees) usual second baseman its Batter of the Week for the span from May 26-June 1.

The 24-year-old led Triple-A with 13 hits in the week while assembling slashes of .406/.457/.563/1.020. That included a franchise-record-tying five knocks yesterday when he fell a home run short of the franchise's third-ever cycle. Pirela stands sixth in the league with his .316 batting average. He also ranks among the circuit's best in runs scored (T-4th, 34) and hits (4th, 61). The native of Venezuela first reached Triple‐A in 2013 when he hit .304 in a five-game July stint with the RailRiders.

The RailRiders conclude their eight-game road trip tonight at 7:05 p.m. in Indianapolis. On Tuesday, the team returns to PNC Field to open an eight-game homestand. The Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles) will get things going at 7:05 p.m. The T-Shirt Tuesday tilt means free gear to the first 1,500 through the gates. This week's shirt showcases the team's 25th anniversary logo. The night will include celebrations of the team's 25-year history as it salutes its inaugural year of 1989.

The contest will air live on MyNetworkTV with John Sadak and Aaron Berlin on the call. Jim Riley will fill in on the radio broadcast. TV coverage gets underway at 7 p.m. while the radio pregame show starts at 6:35 p.m. on NEPA Sports Radio - The GAME, Northeast PA's largest sports radio network: 100.7 FM, 1340 WYCK-AM, 1400 WICK-AM, 1440 WCDL-AM and 106.7 FM.
