FREDERICK, MD -The Frederick Keys are pleased to announce that Glynn Davis and Matt Taylor have been named to the Carolina League All-Star team. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon by the Carolina League office. It is the second all-star selection for Davis, who was named a New York-Penn League All-Star in 2011, while it is Taylor's first selection. The Carolina League-California League All-Star game will take place on Tuesday, June 17 at 7:05 p.m. This year's event will be in Wilmington, Delaware, at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

In his fourth professional season, Davis, 22, has been one of the Carolina League's most consistent offensive performers. Rated the No. 29 prospect in the Orioles system according to Baseball America, the outfielder sports the fourth-best batting average in the Carolina League (.313) entering Wednesday's action. The Baltimore native rates second in hits (65), runs scored (46) and third in doubles (16), while he leads the Keys with 19 multi-hit games. Davis began the season on an 11-game hitting streak, the seventh-longest in the CL this season.

Owner of the second-best ERA in the eight-team circuit, Taylor, 23, was selected to the all-star team but will not be able to compete due to injury. In eight games this year, the Georgian is 5-1 with a 1.94 ERA. He is tied for second in wins, and trails only Carolina's Ryan Merritt in ERA (1.71). Meanwhile, Taylor's ERA is second-best among Orioles farmhands. Over a three-game stretch from April 26-May 9, Taylor did not allow a run over 15.1 innings.

The Carolina League All-Stars will be skippered by the manager of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Darryl Kennedy. He will be assisted by Blue Rocks pitching coach Steve Luebber.

The Frederick Keys continue their three-game series with the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday night. Righty Parker Bridwell (2-6, 4.70) makes the start for the Keys and will be opposed by Red Sox right-hander Simon Mercedes (2-5, 3.76). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m from LewisGale Field. Frederick begins a seven-game homestand on June 9, when Salem visits Harry Grove Stadium. For ticket information, call 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
