FRISCO, TEXAS (JULY 2, 2014) - The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced the promotion of right-handed pitcher Jon Edwards to Triple-A Round Rock. In a corresponding move, fellow righty hurler Ryan Rodebaugh has been removed from the disabled list with right shoulder discomfort.

Edwards, 26, receives the first Triple-A assignment of his eight-year professional career. He signed with the Rangers as a free agent before the 2012 season and earned a promotion to Frisco in September of that year. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder began the 2013 campaign with Advanced-A Myrtle Beach and reached Double-A once again on August 1. Edwards began the 2014 season with the RoughRiders and held a 1-2 record with a 5.13 ERA through 22 relief appearances. A resident of Keller, Texas, Edwards surrendered 26 runs (19 earned) on 27 hits with 23 walks and 36 strikeouts over 33 1/3 innings pitched. After a difficult start to the season, Edwards has allowed three runs (two earned) over his last ten outings and posted a 1.62 ERA in that span. He becomes the eighth RoughRider promoted to Triple-A this season.

Rodebaugh, 25, returns to the active roster for the first time since June 9. The RoughRiders assigned the 6-foot, 190-pound reliever to the DL with discomfort in his throwing shoulder. Through 15 appearances and 16 2/3 innings pitched this season (all with Frisco), Rodebaugh owns a 1-0 record with an 8.10 ERA. The native of Marietta, Georgia has allowed 15 runs on 25 hits with 12 walks and 23 strikeouts.

With the transactions today, Frisco's roster remains at 25 players, the Texas League limit.

The RoughRiders open a six-game road trip against the North Division tonight at 7:10 p.m. against the Arkansas Travelers. The team next returns to Dr Pepper Ballpark on Wednesday, July 9 for a four-game series with the Corpus Christi Hooks.
