Spinners Get The Better Of Connecticut

Lowell, MA - The Lowell Spinners (11-9) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (9-11) by a score of 6-4 Thursday night at LeLacheur Park. The Spinners used a four run seventh inning to take a 6-4 lead. The Tigers led 4-3 until LF Nick Longhi (1-4) had the biggest hit of the seventh inning, a two-run double that gave the Spinners a 5-4 lead. SS Mauricio Dubon (1-4) added an insurance RBI single that scored Longhi.

The Tigers had a big four-run sixth inning that originally gave them a 4-1 lead. CF Rashad Brown (1-4) hit a two-run double that gave the Tigers a 4-1 lead. It was RBI's six and seven for Brown. Brown extended his hitting streak to a season high eight games. RF Mike Gerber (1-4) also extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a leadoff double in the fourth inning.

Tigers RHP Tanner Bailey (1-0) suffered a no decision in the loss to Lowell Thursday night. Bailey pitched 5 1/3 innings while allowing two runs on eight hits and struck out four. Bailey's consecutive scoreless innings streak came to an end at 19. Bailey gave up his first run of the season in the third inning. RHP Jack Fischer (0-1) suffered the loss for the Tigers. Fischer relieved Bailey and pitched 1 2/3 innings while giving up four runs on five hits. 

The Tigers start a three-game series at Dodd Stadium tomorrow night with the Vermont Lake Monsters. Tigers RHP AJ Ladwig (0-0, 0.00) is slated to face off against Vermont's RHP Joe Michaud (1-2, 3.38). Tomorrow is Fourth Of July Weekend presented by Navy Federal Credit Union!
