Owens, Lindor lead Eastern League All-Stars
Red Sox, Indians top prospects headline Eastern, Western rosters

They're both consistently named as two of the best prospects in the game, so it's no surprise that the fans echoed that sentiment when it became time to voice their opinion on the matter.

Francisco Lindor and Henry Owens, MLB.com's Nos. 9 and 26 overall prospects respectively, were voted by the fans into the Eastern League All-Star Game in Altoona on July 16.

Lindor, the Indians' top prospect, represents the biggest name on the Western Division roster and is likely to be the side's starting shortstop next week. He owns a .279/.355/.399 line with six homers, 44 RBIs and 20 steals (sixth-most in the EL) in 77 games for Double-A Akron.

The shortstop, who at 20 years old has been the youngest player in the Eastern League this season, remains one of the best defensive stars not only in the circuit but in the Minors after receiving a 70 grade on his fielding tool from MLB.com last offseason. He leads EL shortstops in putouts (113) and double plays (57) and has created more than his fair share of his highlights at one of the toughest defensive positions in the game.

The Western Division should have plenty of pop in its lineup, as well, with Erie's Steven Moya (21 homers), Bowie's Christian Walker (20) and Harrisburg's Michael Taylor (18) -- the top three home-run hitters in the EL this season -- each on the squad. Taylor also leads all active EL sluggers with a .960 OPS.

Over on the Eastern side, Owens has been the best pitcher in the EL through the first three-and-a-half months of the 2014 season. After matching his career highs with 11 strikeouts in eight innings Sunday, the 6-foot-6 left-hander became the first 12-game winner in the Minors and leads the Eastern League in ERA (2.21), WHIP (1.03) and strikeouts (111).

Owens will be joined by fellow Red Sox farmhand and batterymate Blake Swihart. The switch-hitting catcher, who checks in at No. 49 overall on MLB.com's prospect rankings, owns a .294/.347/.474 line with nine homers (already a career high) and 44 RBIs for the division-leading Sea Dogs. He's thrown out a remarkable 53.2 percent of would-be basestealers, easily tops in the league.

Trenton's Peter O'Brien (15 homers) and New Britain's Kennys Vargas (14 homers) will provide power for the East.
