Offense Struggles in Series Finale

The Crosscutters struggled offensively in the finale of a 3-game series with the Tri-City ValleyCats Monday night at Susquehanna Bank Park at Bowman Field getting shutout 4-0.

Cutters SP David Whitehead dealt his fourth quality start of the season for the Cutters, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits and striking out 3, but was credited with the loss Monday night.

Catcher Deivi Grullon was 2 for 3 on the night picking up half of the Cutters hits. Williamsport did not have a runner get past second base the entire game.

RP Feliberto Sanchez allowed two runs over two innings and RP Frank Rivas had a scoreless ninth.

Chase Harris had a single and Emmanuel Marrero had the only extra base hit for the Cutters with a double.

The loss moves the Cutters to 17-14 but keeps them a half game behind Batavia for the lead in the wildcard standings.

The Crosscutters head to Staten Island for a 3-game series followed by a 3-game series in Brooklyn.

Williamsport returns home on Tuesday, July 22 to face the Batavia Muckdogs on Penn College Pack the Park night.
