Boise, Idaho - Boise powered its way to a roller-coaster win over Salem-Keizer 12-9 Saturday night in front of 3,505 at Memorial Stadium.
The Hawks pounded out 16 hits to produce 12 runs, both season highs allowed by Volcanoes pitching as every Boise hitter had a hit and a RBI in the win.
Salem-Keizer scored two in the top of the first inning as the bases were loaded with two outs for Seth Harrison, who singled to drive in two to give the Volcanoes the lead.
Boise would tie the game with a bottom of the second frame with a home run from Jesse Hodges and a Justin Marria RBI single.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Hawks blew the doors off the game with a five-run fith inning, featuring three straight extra-base hits from Rashad Crawford, Mark Zagunis, and Danny Canela as Boise took the 7-2 lead.
That inning forced out Volcanoes starter Drew Leenhouts, who allowed a career worst seven runs and ten hits in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts
Volcanoes tabbed a run in the top of the seventh inning via a Shilo McCall leadoff walk and an Arroyo sac fly to bring the score to 7-3.
Boise then scored three in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a Jesse Hodges triple and a 2 RBI single from Jeffrey Baez.
In the top of the eighth, Salem-Keizer would answer with three runs of their own, featuring a RBI double form T Relaford and a Jonathan Jones run-scoring single. However, the Volcanoes would end the inning with the bases loaded and the tying run at the plate as Sam Mende struck out. Boise's lead sat at 10-6.
The Hawks went right back to work in the bottom half of the eighth inning as Chesny Young scored two on a single.
The Volcanoes would make it interesting in the ninth, scoring three highlighted by a Jones 2 RBI double and another McCall run-scoring base hit. Callaway pinch hit for Tyler Hollick with the tying run on deck, ending the game.
