July 21, 2014

MANCHESTER, NH - The Trenton Thunder take both games of Monday's double-header from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats before 4.453 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

In Game 1, the Thunder used a two-run homer from Gar y Sanchez in the first game to stake themselves to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Diego Moreno entered in back of Long after he allowed the first two batters to reach base (error, single) and recorded the final three outs for his sixth save of the season.

In Game 2, Trenton fell behind 3-0 before the offense scored four runs in the top of the 2nd inning to quickly get back in the game. The team knocked New Hampshire starting pitcher Richard Bleier out of the game after three innings on eight hits and five runs (4 ER). The game was tied 5-5 entering the 5th inning until Jose Toussen walked with the bases loaded for what would ultimately be the game-winning run. Trenton added two more runs in the 6th inning to make the lead more comfortable for Francisco Rondon in the 7th as he secured his first save of the season.

O'Brien finished the double-header 5-for-7 with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. Francisco Arcia extended his hitting streak to 12 games and connected on his first homer of the season for the Thunder.

The wins made it four wins in the last five games which was the first for the Thunder since winning four out of five games from May 23-27.
