Jonathan Meyer belted a solo home run to left in the seventh

SAN ANTONIO - Casey McElroy belted two home runs and drove in five Tuesday night as San Antonio routed Corpus Christi 11-1 at Wolff Stadium.

The Missions (16-16, 52-50), who had notched two home runs in their prior 11 games, left the park four times Tuesday. San Antonio has won eight of the last 10 contests between the two clubs.

The barrage began in the third when Cory Spangenberg cued a one-out knock off the glove of Kyle Smith (4-3) on the hill. McElroy hit the next pitch over the fence in right. Later in the frame, the Missions loaded the bases for Austin Hedges, who hit a sac fly to center field, capping the three-run frame.

Bryce Morrow kept the Hooks (16-16, 50-52) off the board until the seventh when Jonathan Meyer hit a solo home run to left field. Meyer now has two homers and 38 RBIs in 49 games for Corpus Christi.

Yeison Asencio responded with a two-run shot to left off Mitch Lambson, putting San Antonio up by four.

Former Hook Michael Dimock relieved Morrow (3-1) and authored a perfect eighth inning.

Tyson Perez entered from the Hooks pen and issued a lead-off, four-pitch walk to Brian Bixler. Spangenberg singled and McElroy crushed a 1-0 pitch that cleared the eight-foot wall in right. Perez's struggles continued with an RBI triple from Austin Hedges and a two-run home run off the bat of Cody Overbeck.

Perez, charged with six runs in the eighth, had allowed two earned runs in his first 23 innings with Corpus Christi.

Brady Rodgers (4-10, 4.55) and Luis Cruz (7-5, 2.99) attempt to stop the Hooks' four-game slide Wednesday. Justin Hancock (1-1, 4.07) is slated to pitch for San Antonio.
