July 24, 2014

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 24, 2014) - The Generals (15-18, 46-56) won their third series in the last four with a 3-2 victory over the Huntsville Stars (16-18, 62-42) Thursday in front of 3,400 at The Ballpark at Jackson. Trevor Miller (5-8, 4.68) tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball out of the pen and earned his first win since May 29th. Brock Hebert (1x3, RBI) produced the game winning hit with a two-out RBI in the sixth inning.

The Generals dented the scoreboard early again Thursday as Pat Kivlehan (1x4, R) led off the bottom of the second with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Dan Paolini (0x2, RBI, BB).

The Stars would get to starter Victor Sanchez (5-4, 3.76) in the third inning as Adam Weisenburger led off with a double and two batters later scored on a single from Nick Shaw. Shaw scored the second Huntsville run on a Josh Fellhauer double to give his team the 2-1 lead. Sanchez was forced to throw 29 pitches in the frame.

The lead did not last long though as Jackson used an infield hit and an error to have their first two batters reach in the bottom of the third. Patrick Brady (1x4, RBI) reached on a fielder's choice and Dowd scored to tie the game 2-2.

Hebert came to the plate in the sixth with two outs and runners on first and second. He picked up his only hit of the game, but it was a big one as the single scored Julio Morban (1x4, R) with what became the game-winning run, 3-2.

Sanchez went 4.0 innings in his 16th start of the season and allowed two runs on five hits getting a no decision, but he was picked up by his bullpen. Miller earned the win with 2.2 innings of shutout baseball. He walked one and struck out four. Matt Brazis (1-0, 1 SV, 0.84) picked up his first Double-A save with a scoreless ninth, while Jed Bradley (3-5, 4.25) took the loss for Huntsville as he allowed three runs on six hits in 5.1 innings.

The Generals will look to win four games in a series for the first time this season against the Stars Friday. Jackson will have lefty Tyler Pike (2-1, 5.01) on the mound as Brent Suter (9-7, 3.91) will make the start for Huntsville. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
